Curiosity: why are they called “cold grilled noodles”?
Yes, we know—the name Kao Leng Mian sounds a bit contradictory. “Leng” means cold , while “Kao” means grilled . But there’s a curious explanation behind this mix of adjectives!

Originally, the dish was made with leftover cold noodles , which were then grilled on the spot to give them new life. Over time, however, the pasta sheets became a product in their own right, ready-to-use and perfect for ultra-quick cooking. But the name stuck, almost as a tribute to the tradition of leftover cooking , where nothing goes to waste and everything is transformed into something delicious.
